The Novel

Undercurrent

[PLACEHOLDER — the one-paragraph pitch. This is the sentence a bookseller repeats to a customer, so it should carry the premise and the tension in a single breath.]

[PLACEHOLDER BODY COPY. Duplicity, smuggling, love and betrayal, running between Jersey, Guernsey and South Africa. Two or three paragraphs of jacket copy — who the protagonist is, what she wants, and what stands in the way.]

Chapter One

[Placeholder opening paragraph. Drop the real first page of the novel in here. An opening that runs about this long gives a reader enough to fall into the voice without needing to scroll twice, which is roughly the right length for a sample on a website.]

[Placeholder second paragraph. Keep the extract to two or three paragraphs and end on a line that makes the reader want the next one — that is the whole job of this section.]
